Description
Opioids are natural and synthetic compositions which target the miu, kappa and delta endogenous opioid receptors. Endogens employ pain relief intermediary acts on these receptors. Opioids mimic the peptides’ effect on these receptors. Intensity of pain, route of administration, and duration of usage are suitable parameters for selection of the right opioid. Due to lower potency of oxycodone in comparison to morphine, oxycodone is formulated with NSAIDs such as acetaminophen as an added pain management enhancer.
